Vasudha Sondhi, Managing Director, Outbound Marketing said, “The tourism sector being a service sector has many opportunities for women globally and in India. While women are considered much better than men in the service industry due to their ability to multi task, a male-female balance lends to a positive work environment. It will benefit any country to have a stronger work force with both genders contributing.”
According to a report by UNWTO in 2010, gender stereotyping was a major issue. Especially, the airline industry is a segregated sector. Women dominate sales, ticketing, and flight attendant positions, while the majority of airline CEOs, managers, and pilots are men. Also in many countries, tour guiding is another area that has been hard for women to enter.
