The wait is over as Atrangi by Ritu Dalmia officially opens its doors at the iconic Jumeirah Al Qasr this week. As Chef Dalmia’s inaugural venue in the UAE, this gastronomic gem promises a diverse and rich culinary journey of India, paying homage to the established traditions and techniques embraced by countless generations. 

The menu draws inspiration from various regions and communities of India, showcasing dishes commonly enjoyed in homes, streets, and those resurrected from age-old practices. From the northernmost region of Kashmir to the southern tip of Kerala, guests can savour a variety of signature dishes, including the tantalising Kashmiri Kabargah, a delicacy where lamb chops are cooked in milk and spices before being fried in rice flour and ghee. Another highlight is the Wagyu Beef Jadoh, a rice dish from the Khasi tribe of Meghalaya. Even vegetarians are in for a treat with the Cottage Cheese and Date Kofta in a mushroom gravy that will leave guests wanting more. 

Atrangi’s beverage philosophy is equally enticing, drawing inspiration from an array of spices, flowers, and fruits found in India’s bustling markets. Guests can indulge in cocktails infused with notes of marigold, mogra, rose, tamarind, mango, ginger, saffron, chai, clarified butter, and many more aromatic elements. 

Nestled within the enchanting Jumeirah Al Qasr, Atrangi is more than just a restaurant—it is a captivating sanctuary for culinary connoisseurs and food enthusiasts alike. To add a touch of playfulness, guests can even arrive or depart via a classic abra ride, adding to the magical ambience of the restaurant. 

The design of Atrangi draws inspiration from minimalist and European aesthetics, creating a space that exudes simplicity and elegance while embracing the beauty of the Jumeirah canal outside. Throughout the restaurant, subtle Indian accents, such as rattan and kadappa stone, honouring its roots, thoughtfully curated to ensure a perfect dining experience for guests.
