‘Taste of Jumeirah’: A celebration of luxury, gastronomy and elegance

February 16, 2024

In floriography, white hydrangeas are emissaries of grace and abundance. Their presence signifies wealth that transcends the usual materialistic meaning, denoting something that cannot be explained but is felt by everyone who has ever had a fulfilling experience. Placed as they were in large glass jars around the heritage Kathiwada City House in Mumbai for our Jumeirah x Lifestyle Asia India soirée, the hydrangeas became the living embodiments of the evening’s happenings.

Jumeirah

Titled ‘A Taste of Jumeirah’, the soiree saw the Jumeirah Group’s Chief Commercial Officer Alex Lee, Vice President of Global Sales Middle East and Asia Pacific, Linda Lewis and the Brand PR and Communications Manager, Francesca Hedley mingling with guests, getting to know them and sharing the Jumeirah Group’s plans for the year ahead.

“We have so many wonderful and interesting people in the city that we want to spend our time with and that’s the main reason why we’re here this evening,” said Lee while addressing the guests, adding: “This year we have the privilege of celebrating 25 years of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. In these 25 years, we have set the stage for ultra-luxury hospitality and we look forward to building on that vision. Over those years, we’ve continued to expand the brand and now have more hotels outside of Dubai than we do in Dubai, from the beautiful island of Capri to idyllic Bali and exciting London, you can find Jumeirah in places you may not expect. This evening, we want to spend some quality time with you and hear interesting stories from your city.”

And there must have been quite a few interesting stories shared at our soirée and the ensuing sit-down dinner because the guest list included some of the most fascinating individuals in Mumbai from actors Kubbra Sait, Karishma Tanna, Tisca Chopra, Kritika Kamra, Gurfateh Pirzada and Sakhi Gokhale to National Film Award-winning designer Nachiket Barve. We were also joined by film producer Tanujj Garg, former Head of Original Film at Netflix India and current Phantom Films CEO Srishti Behl Arya, designer and socialite Amrita Thakur, noted wellness expert and yoga specialist Anshuka Parwani, Brand Head of Christian Louboutin India, Maneka Thadani and Communications Manager for Louis Vuitton India, Madhura Phadnis. Ace stylist and designer Mohit Rai, and Head of Creator and Talent Partnerships – APAC at Snapchat, Karanbir Lamba, were also present, along with Bollywood favourites, photographer Vaishnav Praveen and makeup artist Savleen Manchanda.

The cocktails served at the soirée and the dinner menu were inspired by the Jumeirah Group locations around the globe. While the Mint Julep embodied the freshness of Capri, the Elder Collins mirrored the vibrant energy of Dubai.

Our dinner menu featured inspired creations from renowned Jumeirah properties around the world. We began with the Roasted Beetroot and Orange Beet Yogurt Salad, a nod to the flavours of Jumeirah Port Sóller Hotel & Spa in Mallorca. We followed it up with the Zaatar Sourdough with Hummus and Harissa, drawing inspiration from the iconic Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. After this, we indulged in the Cappellacci Dei Briganti with Lemon Rocket Pesto, paying homage to the Capri Palace Jumeirah, and relished the Steamed Barramundi Pok Choy Parcel Balinese Curry inspired by the enchanting Jumeirah Bali. A fitting end to such an intimate and exclusive event was the Ricotta Ice Cream served with Lime Granita and Berry Cobbler, a sweet homage to The Carlton Tower Jumeirah in Knightsbridge.

It was certainly an evening that Mumbai will remember for a long time.
